I already uploaded the account of the outline of my beautiful peacock wing tattoos this is part 2, and parts 3 and 4 come to think of it!

to recap the tattoo so far, I had been hankering after new ink before Christmas and I wanted my third piece to be larger scale than my first two but also to really be a piece of art, my other two are beautiful but are my own design completely and im no tattoo artist. I decided on peacock wings because of the scope of colour possibilities I knew I wanted wings but fluffy angel wings or demonic bat wings just aint me! Peacocks symbolise commitment and love and I got them starting on my hips and trailing round to the bottom of my back, a commitment to love my love Handles! I have spent a lot of time not liking myself and it turns out this is a silly, vain waste of time so I decided to ink my decision to try not to waste time hating myself and make my body an art work I love!

Went back to Nine (previously temple tatu) in Brighton to get a consult with the amazing Sergi, we decided that blues for the wings fading to green at the hip with green peacock feathers would work well so armed with an appointment card I went away buzzing for my next session. I used Ametop cream (a skin numbing cream) for the outline, Sergi suggested I use it because it's a sensitive area and it would mean I wouldn't jump and have wiggly outlines, I firmly stand by my decision to use it because if it gives me a sharper tattoo I have no problem (besides I feel I earned my share of pain over the next three sessions!) the day of the colour session arrived and I applied more Ametop, I figured if it helps keep me still that's gotta be a good thing! I arrived and we got straight to work on my left wing, and though Ametop mat be excellent for outlines where colour is involved it doesn't do much! Once my skin had been gone over once the numbness was taken with it so because he was shading in so many (beautiful) colours there was lots of going over the same area! It definitely hurt most rounds on the bottom of my back, cos I could feel it vibrating through my pelvis into the bed thing it's a truly unpleasant sensation! We did about two hours or so and only did the left wing because he wanted to see how the colours healed (I bleed lots and it was obscuring the colours!) so wrapped and reminded of aftercare I went on my merry way with one very swollen but stunning hip. The healing was less itchy than the outlines and there were a few placed to be touched up so a couple of weeks later I went back for session 3.....

Unfortunately had decided to go back to visit the folks and the transport links from my town are poor! I got really stressed I was going to be late and had to run from the station to nine without a drink or dinner. Mistake. Got there a couple of minutes late to find Sergi having a smoke so I hadn't kept him waiting, we looked over the left wing and decided to outline the top of the wing and some of the higher feathers in blue to make it more distinct but leave the bottom ones more feathery, touch up a few areas and run pink through the green feathers. We went down to the station and he set up, deciding to do the blue outlines first, the moment the needle touched me it really hurt, I was not happy, I waited for it to become a bearable burn but it didn't, it felt awful, he basically redid the left wing and I don't know if its because I was expecting pain on the other side or because I didn't eat but I couldn't take it, he was asking me questions and I could hear the tears in my voice! Once he stared on the bottom of my back it was over I just stared crying, I literally couldn't stop myself, he finished up the left wing and made me a cup of tea (that man is a gentleman and no mistake, he is genuinely lovely!) even sitting in reception I couldn't stop id try and my eyes would just leak again seconds later! I was mortified! We went back down to do the right wing and he just did the blue on the right wing, I don't know if its cos I was expecting it but I was fine, even the blue outline wasn't a problem, so bandaged and apologising I made my way out (met my boyfriend who I promptly started crying on soon as I saw him!) soon as that was healed (again no problems) I made my way back for my last session.

Properly prepared and armed with apple juice I am happy to report there were no hysterics on my last visit! And oh my god the results are spectacular! I could not love these tattoos more! The colours are so vivid and the mix of pink in the green peacock feathers really gives them an extra dimension! I finally showed my parents when they were complete (mum: oh they're very big aren't they, dad: joining the circus?) but both agree they are beautiful! I can't stop showing them off and I hardly wear dresses anymore so I can show people my tattoos when im out! Sergi is a hero he put so much effort into these and though they took twice the sessions they cost me no extra, soon as they are fully healed im going back for photos (I may try make some cookies but id rather not repay his skill with food poisoning, im not a great cook!) they have blood sweat and tears but they were more than worth it I cant help but smile when I catch a glimpse of blue when im sitting down, thank you Sergi!
